Known limitations for products with 250+ variants

Products with many variants (e.g. 250 or more size/color combinations) are handled a bit differently due to platform limits. Depending on whether you use an optional Storefront API token, you get either full filtering with simpler pricing, or full B2B features with limited filtering. This page explains both options so you can choose what fits your store.

Without the Storefront API token (default)

If you do not add a Storefront API access token in the block settings:

  • Filtering — The list cannot filter down to a subset of variants for products with 250+ variants. All variants are loaded.
  • B2B — Quantity rules, minimum/maximum order amounts, and volume pricing work as expected. The initial B2B price is correct.
  • Quantity increment, min/max, and volume pricing — These B2B features work correctly.

Best when B2B pricing and quantity rules matter more than filtering for very large variant lists.

With the Storefront API token

If you add a Storefront API access token in the block settings (under Advanced):

  • Filtering — Enabled. Customers can filter and search within products that have 250+ variants.
  • B2B — Quantity rules, volume pricing, and B2B prices are not available when using this token. The block uses standard storefront pricing.

Best when you need filtering on very large products and do not rely on B2B features for that block.

How to get a Storefront API token

You can create a token using an app that supports the Storefront API, such as the Headless Storefront app. Create a token with read product (and any other scopes the app requires), then paste it into the Quick Order List block settings under Advanced.

Products with fewer than 250 variants

These limitations apply only to products with 250 or more variants. For smaller products, filtering and B2B behavior work as expected without any extra token.
